Belgian Chocolate Fountain Belgium is a beautiful place to visit. Every time you think of the country, you can’t help to think of two things, chocolate and waffles. Brussels is also known as the supposed capitol of the EU (European Union), but in actuality they have no official capitol. I’ve visited the country twice already, but both visits were only a day. The country is fairly small and I usually stop in Brussels on my way down to Paris from Amsterdam.

It’s so close to Amsterdam, that you can take bus tours from the Netherlands in the morning and still make it back for dinner. Brussels is your typical cosmopolitan city with people speaking many languages. I remember dining in a Chinese restaurant my first time there, and I noticed the waiter was able to take the order in English, French, Dutch, and Chinese. Because I didn’t have much time, I just walked around and ended following many tourists to a fountain. I was unsure as to why they were all taking pictures of a statue, sculpted to look like a child like angel, but read up more about it here if you’re interested.

One city not to miss in Belgium is Antwerp. It’s definitely not as metropolitan as Brussels is, but it does have old world charm. I visited an extremely old church there that was amazing. The architecture was unbelievable. The drive and walk around there was great as well. A nice river runs right by Antwerp and they have new contemporary homes being built alongside the water. If you ever do make the journey to Amsterdam and feel like driving to Paris. Be sure to drop by Belgium and take a look.
