Shani DavisYesterday was a great day for the Koreans. They dominated the short track event in both women’s and men’s taking four medals in two events. The U.S. team didn’t do so bad either. We took three medals today out of the six scheduled medal events and we beat Great Britain in Curling – Women’s Round Robin Session 7. The American team is also leading in the total amount of medals acquired in Vancouver.

Alpine Skiing – Ladies’ Super-G

Our favorite women’s skier Lindsey Vonn took the bronze medal in the Super-G today. Although she didn’t take the gold, she has total of two medals so far and a couple of events left on the roster. It was Andrea Fischbacher from Austria who took the gold, which I guess was payback for Lindsey taking it in the Downhill. Tina Maze came through for Slovenia winning the silver, the country’s only medal so far.

Speed Skating – Men’s 1500 m

It was Shani Davis again, winning us a silver medal in the Men’s 1500. The medal will sit nicely next to the gold he won in the Men’s 1000. Speed skater, Mark Tuitert from France took the gold with a time of 1:45.57. Havard Bokko from Norway almost took the silver away from Davis, having a time difference of only .03.

Short Track – Men’s 1000 m Finals

This was a tough event for the U.S. team when J.R. Celski got disqualified. I don’t believe it was his fault, but the judges ruled against him and Apolo Ohno was forced to duke it out in the finals with Canada and Korea. There’s no doubt that the Koreans are fantastic at this event, but when you have two skaters working together and moving together, it’s easier to box out skaters. That’s my opinion anyway. Thankfully, Ohno still squeezed out a bronze for us, while leaving the Canadian team behind. Team Korea’s, Jung-Su Lee and Ho-Suk Lee took the gold and silver medals respectively.
