Men's U.S. Hockey TeamOverall, we had a pretty good day. We shut out Switzerland in Men’s Hockey and we won two medals, a good day in my book. The country who really showed their stuff today was Canada. They had a great day, taking four medals out of the five events. They just rocketed by the Russian Federation and are now fourth place in overall medals.

Ice Hockey – Men’s Play-offs Quarterfinals – Game 23

It was Zach Parise who won the game for the U.S. team in this match. He managed to single-handedly score two goals in the last period of the game, beating the Swiss team 2 – 0. The 25 year old normally plays pro hockey for the New Jersey Devils, when he’s not scoring here in Vancouver.

Bobsleigh – Women’s Heat 4

This was one of the events the Canadians dominated in today. Two of their teams took the top two stops, but the U.S. team managed to squeeze into that third position to take the bronze medal. We have to thank Erin Pac and Elana Meyers for winning their first medals here in Canada. The gold was one by Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse. The silver was won by Helen Upperton and Shelley-Ann Brown.

Short Track – Ladies’ 3000 m Relay Finals

China took this event by a fairly large margin. The Canadian team was right on their tail, coming in less that three seconds behind them. Unfortunately, the U.S. team was almost eight seconds behind China, but the important thing was that we still managed to pull a bronze out of the event. The skaters for Team U.S.A. were Allison Baver, Alyson Dudek, Lana Gehring, Katherine Reutter.
