Morrisania Air Rights Houses
A New York Police officer was shot a few hours ago in the Melrose section of the Bronx. When the officer responded to the call at the housing project, somehow gunfire erupted and he was shot. At least one bullet hit his vest, a couple others landed somewhere near his lower stomach and groin area. Luckily, the officer will survive the shooting and is currently undergoing surgery at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center.

The 911 call came in around 12pm about a dispute involving a man wielding a gun. Four officers from the 44th precinct responded and went to the apartment at 3073 Park Avenue in the Bronx. Somehow, the man with the gun, barricaded himself inside the apartment.

It is still unknown as to how everything played out, but the gun wielding man was found dead. Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Kelly have headed to the hospital to offer support.
