Moscow Metro Attack
Less than 24 hours ago, two female suicide bombers blew themselves up on packed underground trains. There are at least 38 confirmed casualties and over 65 people injured. Moscow police are also searching for their accomplices caught on the metro’s CCTVs.

The horror that took place at Lubyanka station was directly under the headquarters of the FSB (Federal Security Service), successors to the KGB. The suicide bombers’ belts were said to have contained bolts and iron rods to maximize damage. Investigators found that the woman’s torso was completely blown away, leaving only her head and legs. Cameras in the station revealed that there were two other women and a man accompanying the two female bombers.

Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister, has cut short a trip to Siberia and pledged to destroy the terrorist group responsible. Alexander Bortnikov, head of the FSB, told Mr Medvedev in an emergency meeting at the Kremlin that the bombers were probably “black widows”, women radicalised by the security crackdown in the northern Caucasus. There hasn’t been a major act of terrorism in Russia since 20004.
