Early this morning, at least 33 people were arrested due to possible gang members running amok in the city. So many rowdy mobs invaded the city last night, that there were three separate shooting incidents in midtown Manhattan. Four people were taken to the hospital for gunshot wounds, luckily no one was critical nor were there any casualties.
Two of the shootings that took place, happened near Times Square forcing officers to shut down some main streets. The shooting took place near the Penn Station and Macy’s Herald Square area. All of the incidents were reported between midnight and 2am this morning. Police reports indicate that there may be a connection to the mobs and the Bloods gang.
The NYPD also believe that this is some sort of Easter ritual, because this is the third year in row, mini mobs or riots have appeared on Easter weekend. There was some speculation that these gang members were here for the car show and wandered through midtown from there. However, a spokesman for the car show said there was virtually no gang like activity seen at this year’s show. Moreover, the show was over around 7pm on Sunday, while the incidents took place 5 to 7 hours later.
A woman said that she witnessed a subway car, empty out about 200 of these rowdy people at her stop. Many news outlets are reporting that these are just high school kids with gang affiliations wreaking havoc, while they are off for spring break. Online blogs are attributing the behavior of these rowdy kids to their parents and upbringing, as well as offering interesting counter measures to make sure it doesn’t happen again for a fourth year in a row.
