Google Inc. is looking to expand it’s global sales by hiring 500 new employees. According to a Google spokesperson, the staff increases are being driven by a desire to keep the company to moving forward in a rapidly changing digital media marketplace. Chief executive Eric Schmidt had said during company results in October that Google would be stepping up recruitment, particularly in advertising from sales to mobile search.
The web giant currently has just under 20,000 employees worldwide. A spokesperson for Google told news outlet, Mediaweek, “We’re investing heavily for the long term to maintain and increase the company’s pace of innovation.” Many people may look at this as an unemployment indicator, however we shouldn’t put too much faith in their move to hire more people. Google has the cash to do things like this, whereas many companies are still suffering in this economy.
Here are a few of the jobs they’re looking for:
Strategic Partner Development Manager
Display Sales Operations Manager
Inventory Analyst (Youtube)
Other than sales positions, Google is seeking candidates in engineering, finance, product management and human resources.
