Yesterday, Google announced that it has cancelled its Nexus One smartphone for use on Verizon’s CDMA network. Google updated its official Nexus One blog to recommend users instead pre-order the new Droid Incredible from HTC, set to be released on April 29th. Previously, users who went to the official Nexus One site seeking a Verizon-compatible handset were told the device was “coming soon.”
The Nexus One, touted as a possible iPhone killer, would have brought a huge swarm of customers to Verizon. Many see the Droid Incredible as “a cousin of the Nexus One.” However, in a comparison, the Incredible seems to be a bit more bulky and heavier than the Nexus One. T-Mobile plans with the Nexus One run for about $200 and if you want to buy it unlocked to use on a different carrier, it’ll cost you just over $500.
