Transparent Battery
Stanford University is known as one of the top tech schools in the world. One of their latest innovations came from two their researchers, Yi Cui and Yuan Yang. Together, they led a design team to create the first “transparent battery” that is similar to the lithium-ion battery packs in cell phones. The team’s goal seems to be collaborating with Apple to design a new “transparent iPhone.”

According to Yi Cui, the solution to creating this invisible power source was to trick the human eye by designing the components in a special pattern. The design also allows them to be flexible and cheap, but current lab results indicate that it can only power a small LED light. However, they are confident that they will be able to improve redundancies in the design and layer the batteries. Yi Cui and Yuan Yang also believe that they will be able to commercialize the power source in as little as two years.
