Beltran Wheeler Trade
According to the latest rumors, Carlos Beltrán is being traded to the Giants for pitcher Zack Wheeler. The Met’s all-star right fielder is at the end of his 7-year $119 million contract and becomes a free agent this winter. The Mets are actually making out by being able to add Beltrán into the package, given that he can’t say no right now and he can leave anytime he wants later.

Carlos Ivan Beltrán is a 34 year old right fielder born in Puerto Rico. He started his baseball career back in 1995 when he was drafted by the Kansas City Royals, but didn’t hit the majors until 1998. Beltrán stayed with the Royals franchise for 6 years before doing a brief stint in Houston, then finally coming to New York in 1995. He’s been an all-star 6 times and awarded the golden glove 3 times.

Zachary Wheeler, a 21 year old pitcher out of Georgia, was drafted right out of high school by the Giants. The 6’3” righty is considered one of the top pitchers in major league baseball. His arsenal includes an amazing curve ball and a fastball averaging 93 to 95 mph.

Hopefully the Mets can shape this kid into an amazing pitcher. He’s just starting his career and the Mets really need a helping hand. The franchise doesn’t have the best record in the National League, with a scorecard of 52-51; they probably won’t make it to the World Series this year. Speaking of that, they haven’t won a World Series championship since 1986 and the team has only made it to the championship match once since then.
