With the help of Steven Spielberg, the ideas of Kelly Marcel have been turned into this fall’s newest Science Fiction series. You can catch the show on Mondays at 8pm on the Fox network. The show opens with our planet on the brink of extinction in the 2149. To save the human race, scientists develop a time machine to send people back to when dinosaurs ruled the plant. “Terra Nova” refers to their first settlement on prehistoric Earth. Its leader, Commander Nathaniel Taylor (Stephen Lang), survived for months on his own and was the first to come through the gate. Actor Stephen Lang is best known for his role as Col. Miles Quaritch in James Cameron’s blockbuster hit, Avatar.
I really enjoyed watching the first episode last night and I can’t wait until next week. It’s like a combination between two great movies, Jurassic Park and Stargate. The background scenery was pretty amazing, but it was not all computer generated. Spielberg chose Australia as the filming location for his Cretaceous period sets. What I’m looking forward to most in this series is to see how the future descendants apply their advanced technologies to survive in this time. Moreover, it’s a great platform for the writers and producers to come up with ideas for new green technologies.
