During the evening rush on Monday, a woman was killed when she jumped onto the tracks at the Long Island Rail Road Forest Hills Station in Queens. She was killed instantly when the Penn Station bound train hit her at approximately 6pm. The woman was identified as Dong Sin Hahn, 54, of Brooklyn.
The train that hit her originated in Babylon, New York at 4:39pm. MTA police believe that she jumped onto the tracks and threw herself into the path of the train. Many LIRR trains were delayed while the police and emergency services were dispatched to the scene.
Regular LIRR service wasn’t restored until shortly after 8 p.m. that night. MTA police continue to investigate the accident at the LIRR Forest Hills Station. The station is located at the corner of 71st Ave. and Burns St. in Forest Hills, New York.
