Phillies Fan Tasered
During the Phillies vs. Cardinals game on Monday night in Philadelphia, a crazed fan ran onto the field during the middle of the game. Questions arose after police had to use a taser to subdue the man. Police officials in Philadelphia are now considering whether officers should get involved when unruly, but non-threatening, fans sprint onto the field during sporting events. (more…)

Clijsters Could Miss French Open

Tennis star Kim Clijsters was forced to pull out of a match on Sunday due to torn muscle in her foot. The French Open tournament starts in four weeks, on May 23rd, but Clijsters is hoping that intensive treatment will shorten the estimated six-week rehabilitation. The injury is Clijsters’ first major setback since she returned from retirement last year. (more…)

Indianapolis 500 Has 40 Entries

Four past winners and four IZOD IndyCar Series champions, are among the drivers named to the 40 entries filed for the 2010 Indianapolis 500. The race is scheduled for Sunday, May 30th, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Thirty-four drivers have been named to the 40 entries filed this year for the 33 starting spots in the world’s most prestigious auto race. (more…)

Duke Defeats Butler

Today, Duke defeated Butler in the NCAA championship match. Butler had a great run, being the number five seed and blowing through all the other teams. The number one seed just barely beat the Bulldogs 61 – 59. (more…)

Shoab Malik Accused of Bigamy

The Pakistani cricket player was accused of attempted bigamy earlier today. Indian police seized the sports star’s passport after plans were announced to marry tennis star Sania Mirza. The issue came to light when another Indian woman, Ayesha Siddiqui, told reporters that Mr. Malik married her over the telephone in 2002. (more…)

Cornell Big Red upset the Wisconsin Badgers, defeating them 87 to 69. They advance to the Sweet 16 to play the Kentucky Wildcats on Thursday. The big East games should be interesting with first and second seeds playing the eleventh and twelfth seeds. (more…)

Last Sunday in Atlanta, Brad Keselowski was involved in a horrific accident on the track. During the Sprint Cup race, competitor Carl Edwards nudged Keselowski ’s car, which resulted in an airborne crash. NASCAR placed Edwards on probation for three races because of the incident. Luckily, Keselowski was not injured the crash. (more…)

Olympic Closing Ceremonies

Olympics - Ice Hockey Event
Today was the last day of the Olympics, with only two events and the closing ceremonies on the schedule. The U.S. team added one more medal to their long list, but unfortunately it was only a silver. The Canadian team beat us in Men’s Hockey event 3 – 2, but we can be proud of our 37 medals in the Vancouver Olympics. (more…)

Tiger Scares Off Sponsors

It didn’t take long for the sponsors to start pulling their endorsements. Just a week ago, Tiger decided to take matters into his own hands and publicly apologized for the wrongs he has caused his family and friends. Unfortunately, it didn’t make a difference to some of his sponsors and now Gatorade has decided to jump ship as well. (more…)

Apolo Ohno Disqualified – Olympic Update

In the men’s 500m finals, Apolo Ohno was disqualified for pushing Francois-Louis Tremblay of Canada. Although Ohno avoided falling, he supposedly caused the falling of Tremblay and South Korean Sung Si-Bak. The Canadian was still awarded the bronze and Sung Si-Bak the silver. The day wasn’t a total loss, we still took two medals today. (more…)
