Machu Picchu in Peru
If you haven’t heard, about two months ago, severe weather had knocked out the rail connecting the tourist attraction to the city of Cuzco. However, through the help of public and private organizations, they have repaired the damaged area and reopened some of the rail line today. They are using buses to transport passengers where the track is still being tested. (more…)

St. Patrick’s Day Parade – New York

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

McSorley's Old Ale House
Tomorrow would be a really bad day to drive through Manhattan. Although everyone would be in high spirits, traffic will be a nightmare with closed streets for the parade, drunk driver checkpoints, and tipsy pedestrians. If you plan to take mass transit, by all means enjoy yourself and try not to miss the St. Patrick’s Day parade running up 5th avenue. (more…)

The United States Entrance Fee

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Barack Obama
As a measure to raise money, President Obama passed a new law designed to boost the dwindling numbers of foreign tourists. He believes that by charging a $10 fee on top of the ESTA (Electronic Scheme for Travel Authorization) application will somehow raise our declining tourism numbers. If you have to read that line again, it’s not wrong. (more…)

Two Killed On Cruise By Rogue Waves

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

MV Louis Majesty
No one ever thinks about dieing on a cruise, but I guess we have to think twice now. Yesterday, a German and an Italian man, were killed when huge rogue waves hit a cruise ship sailing around the Mediterranean. The waves were reported to be around 26ft. high and caused glass windows all over the ship, to shatter. (more…)

Belgian Chocolate Fountain Belgium is a beautiful place to visit. Every time you think of the country, you can’t help to think of two things, chocolate and waffles. Brussels is also known as the supposed capitol of the EU (European Union), but in actuality they have no official capitol. I’ve visited the country twice already, but both visits were only a day. The country is fairly small and I usually stop in Brussels on my way down to Paris from Amsterdam. (more…)

Original Arc de Triumphe I was very lucky to have the opportunity to visit France last year. Paris is exactly how they portray it in the movies. I was able to see many tourist attractions, sample their great food & wine, and also witness Bastille Day fireworks. Bastille Day is France’s national holiday, held every year on July 14th. Similar to our Independence day, there’s usually a spectacular fireworks show and parades scheduled. (more…)

Amsterdam Tourist Info

Rijks Museum Everyone has heard about Amsterdam in the Netherlands. It’s best known, especially among younger people, for it’s blasé attitude towards marijuana and it’s red light district. Through this article I’ll try to cover as much as I can recall from my trip there and provide tips. It’s been just over a year since I’ve been there, but I will be heading back there this June and will try to update the article when I get back. (more…)

Australia Tourist Info – Cairns

Coastline After seeing the Steve Irwin Zoo, I headed over to Cairns. Arriving there felt like I just landed in Hawaii. The city is small and resembles a surfer town, but with an unusable beach. The reason the beach is unusable is because of the “Salties” (salt water alligators). They do have a beautiful water pool area where many tourists and locals flock to. (more…)

Australia Tourist Info – Brisbane

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Koala Bear After my tour of Sydney, I flew over to Brisbane to visit the Steve Irwin Zoo. I found Brisbane to be very hilly and tough to walk, but it’s only because I don’t hit the gym nearly as often as I should. The hotel I chose to stay at was the Holiday Inn right above Roma St. Station. The hotel was 3 star, which I secured through Priceline for about $175 a night. I chose this station for it’s close price and close proximity to a rail station. (more…)

Australia Tourist Info – Sydney

Sydney Sunrise Visiting Sydney, Australia is an experience everyone should have. The temperature in Sydney is very similar to San Francisco and I find the terrain is strangely similar as well. I stayed at the Marriott Hotel overlooking Hyde Park. I’ve attached a picture of the sunrise from my room. My trip took place in September of 2009 and I stayed in Australia for 2 weeks moving from Sydney to Brisbane to Cairns and back to Sydney. (more…)
