Indianapolis 500 Has 40 Entries

Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Four past winners and four IZOD IndyCar Series champions, are among the drivers named to the 40 entries filed for the 2010 Indianapolis 500. The race is scheduled for Sunday, May 30th, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Thirty-four drivers have been named to the 40 entries filed this year for the 33 starting spots in the world’s most prestigious auto race. (more…)

NASCAR to Discipline Carl Edwards

Last Sunday in Atlanta, Brad Keselowski was involved in a horrific accident on the track. During the Sprint Cup race, competitor Carl Edwards nudged Keselowski ‘s car, which resulted in an airborne crash. NASCAR placed Edwards on probation for three races because of the incident. Luckily, Keselowski was not injured the crash. (more…)

Nissan Recalls Over 500,000 Cars

Why are “recalls” spreading between car manufacturers like a virus? No one knows, but today Nissan joined the group by announcing a recall of over 500,000 vehicles. Most of the vehicles affected are in the United States, only some in Asia, Latin America, and Middle East, but none in the U.K. will be recalled. Nissan’s move came soon after General Motors announced their “faulty steering” recall yesterday. (more…)

Toyota Adds Brake Override Feature

TMS (Toyota Motor Sales), U.S.A., Inc. announced today that it will install something called a brake override feature on an expanded range of vehicles. This braking enhancement is supposed to automatically reduce engine power when the brake and accelerator pedals are applied simultaneously. Toyota hopes this will provide an additional measure of confidence. (more…)

Toyota Recalls 8,000 Tacomas

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. is voluntarily recalling 8,000 Tacoma vehicles. The recall only covers trucks from model year 2010. The company is looking to inspect the front drive shaft on a small group of these vehicles. No other Toyota or Lexus vehicles are involved. (more…)

Honda Decides To Recall More Airbags

honda Toyota isn’t the only one taking up all the spotlight in the car industry these days. Honda has had an ongoing issue with the deployment of certain airbags since 2000. The driver’s airbag inflators in these vehicles may deploy with too much pressure, which can cause the inflator casing to rupture and could result in injury or fatality. Honda has expanded a previously announced recall to include an additional 378,758 vehicles in the U.S. (more…)

Toyota Driving Into More Problems

prius4 In Washington D.C. today, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood was asked what he would tell Toyota owners. His reply was “My advice is, if anybody owns one of these vehicles, stop driving it, take it to a Toyota dealer because they believe they have the fix for it.” This small comment sent the price of Toyota Motor Corp. (TM) plummeting to about $72 a share. After realizing what he said, he issued an apology for his so-called “clear misstatement.” (more…)

toyota Almost everyone in the U.S. has heard about the Toyota recall. If you haven’t heard or if you are looking to see if you can learn more, keep reading. Technically the car maker has two recalls going at the same time. One is called “Floor Mat Entrapment” and the other is called “Pedal.” Although the issues are not reported to be rare and not sudden, the company found it prudent to stop certain manufacturing plants and halt sales of affected vehicles.
