According to an announcement on Tuesday by it’s board, St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Centers has decided to close it’s Greenwich Village location. The current patients doing elective surgeries will have to move to another hospital by next week. The decision to close was due to a huge $700 million debt that organization just could not absorb. Governor Paterson’s press secretary, Marissa Shorenstein, abruptly quit today amid the scandal in Albany. She would be another top member of Paterson’s administrative team to resign, since the scandal began. Ms. Shorenstein leaves a $154,000 a year job and has already spoken with investigators for Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. (more…)
Just last week, the former New York State police chief Harry Corbitt, announced his retirement amid the growing scandal involving himself, Governor Paterson, and the governor’s aide. Yesterday Corbitt’s replacement, the acting superintendent Pedro J. Perez, also publicly announced his retirement as well. Based on my astute mathematical skills, that means we just lost two senior NYS police officials in two weeks. (more…)
