Google CEO Eric Schmidt Steps Down

Last week, Google’s CEO announced that he will step down and allow Larry Page to take over the daily operations at the search engine giant. Dr. Schmidt has lead Google as the CEO for a decade. Facebook Chat Bug

An article on TechCrunch revealed that Facebook users recently encountered a bug that allowed them to see their friends private chat messages. When the social networking site became aware of the issue, they immediately disabled all it’s instant-messaging services. The vulnerability only existed “for a limited amount of time,” the company said. (more…)

In April of 2009, Paul Bristol was surfing social networking site Facebook, until he came upon pictures of his ex-girlfriend with another man. He became so enraged, he flew 4,000 miles from Trinidad to London, to murder Camilla Mathurasingh. Today he tried, convicted and sentenced to life in prison. (more…)

Facebook Goes to Court

Facebook faces a class action lawsuit over changes that they made to its privacy settings last November and December. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges that the modifications have actually reduced privacy protections for Facebook users rather than increasing it. The lawsuit also claims that Facebook’s messaging around the changes were “misleading, confusing and disingenuous.” (more…)

MySpace CEO Jumps Ship

MySpace is owned by News Corporation, an international news conglomerate with roots in Australia. The company announced today that MySpace CEO, Owen Van Natta, will be stepping down effective immediately. His duties will be resumed by two men, who have been recently promoted co-presidents. Mike Jones and Jason Hirschhorn will now report directly to Jon Miller, News Corporation’s Chairman and CEO of Digital Media. (more…)
