Intel Science Winners Announced

2010 Intel Science Talent Search Winners
Yesterday, the top 10 winners of the 2010 Intel Science Talent Search, were given $630,000 in awards. The first place winner was Erika DeBenedictis of New Mexico, for her work on a software navigation system to help improve spacecraft travel through the solar system. Erika’s research found that the gravity and movement of planets create “easy transit routes,” which will ultimately help spacecraft move faster and with less fuel. (more…)

Intel Supports U.S. Job Market

Paul OtelliniEarlier today, Intel Corp’s (INTC) President and CEO Paul Otellini, announced a joint venture to provide jobs and new technologies, to help bolster the U.S. economy. The group is named the “Invest in America Alliance” and is made up of 17 corporations. Intel Capital has been chosen to lead this grand commitment, which will invest some $3.5 billion in U.S. companies over the next two years. One of their goals include increasing jobs for college graduates by 2010. (more…)

Intel Introduces Itanium 9300 Processor

intel_itanium Previously codenamed “Tukwila,” Intel introduced the Itanium 9300 processor yesterday in San Francisco, CA. It’s reported to deliver more than double the performance of its predecessor, boost scalability and add reliability features to the Itanium platform. Intel and Micron Introduce First 25 Nanometer Processor

micron The joint venture between Intel Corporation (INTC) and Micron Technology Inc. (MU) has paid off. This new 25 nanometer (nm) processor is the smallest and most advanced piece of technology in the semiconductor industry. The major benefits of this chip are increases in storage capacity on multiple levels and lower power consumption. The NAND technology on the chip is what makes it so impressive. (more…)

New York Leads Intel Science Search 2010

intel Once again, New York has the most finalists in the Intel Science Search. California took second place with 8 students. According to data released earlier today by Intel and the SSP (Society for Science & the Public), all 40 finalists come from 18 states and 36 schools. It seems that the majority of the 11 New York students are from Long Island. (more…)

Intel’s Next Step

intelsccchip Intel Corp. (INTC) is the market leader in making computer chips. According to new 2009 estimates, they lost some percentage points to Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), but they still hold at least 75% of the CPU market. According to newly released information, they’re taking the next step in chip architecture. Intel refers to this breakthrough as the “Single Chip Cloud Computer.” This new chip will have 48 CPU chip cores and uses new power management technologies. The new architecture is expected to manage well beyond 100 chip cores. (more…)
