At 3:40pm yesterday, a powerful earthquake was recorded near Mexicali, California. The 7.2 magnitude quake was followed by a series of aftershocks between 3.0 to 5.0 magnitudes. So far there has only been one reported death, but there are scores of people who are trapped amongst the rubble of their homes. (more…)
Walt Disney circulated a strange request to casting directors around Los Angeles last week. They asked for a beautiful & fit female model with “real breasts.” Only women whom are not artificially enhanced will be eligible to audition for part four of their “Pirates of Caribbean” series of movies. I believe there should be some debate over “The Hurt Locker” winning best movie, but who am I to decide? This years Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, took place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. I thought that Avatar should have beaten everyone hands down, but the voters are mainly other actors and people invited to be voters by the AMPAS ( Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ). The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has released their findings on the case involving the death of actress Brittany Murphy. Best known for her roles in movies like “Clueless” and “8 Mile”, she was found unconscious in her home on December 20th, 2009. Although firefighters made every effort to save her, she was pronounced dead on arrival. A spokesman for the office said that drugs played a major part in her death. (more…)
Restaurant week is almost upon us here in NYC. Every year around this time, many cities in the U.S. hold a restaurant week. It’s a chance for the locals and tourists to sample different cuisines at much lower prices. I definitely eat out at least 3 times during that week. I hope the current economy does not hamper this even. I’ve provided a short list of restaurant weeks within the country. (more…)
