Walt Disney circulated a strange request to casting directors around Los Angeles last week. They asked for a beautiful & fit female model with “real breasts.” Only women whom are not artificially enhanced will be eligible to audition for part four of their “Pirates of Caribbean” series of movies. The Oscars
I believe there should be some debate over “The Hurt Locker” winning best movie, but who am I to decide? This years Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, took place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. I thought that Avatar should have beaten everyone hands down, but the voters are mainly other actors and people invited to be voters by the AMPAS ( Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ). Shutter Island – Weekend Hit

Shutter IslandThe Martin Scorsese film, Shutter Island, took in a whopping $40 million this weekend. This number tops both opening movie records for the director as well as lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Scorsese’s best was around $27 million, set by the film The Departed, which coincidentally starred DiCaprio as well. DiCaprio’s previous best was just over $30 million, set by the film Catch Me If You Can, which was directed by Steven Spielberg. (more…)

While searching the net, I found interesting deals from fandango.com. If you’re going to see a movie any time soon, it wouldn’t hurt to try these deals on fandango. On openings nights, movies can be sold out quite quickly. For instance, when I went to see Avatar, I was forced to drive almost an hour to see the movie in IMAX 3D. By using fandango you can reserve your tickets ahead of time with only a small fee. (more…)

Avatar – The Future of Movies

avatarposter Since Avatar was released in theaters a few weeks ago, all I’ve heard were great reviews. I must admit that most of my friends are fellow techies with a flare for science fiction, but a large portion of my other friends liked it as well. I was unable to get a ticket at Lincoln Square for the IMAX 3D experience because all tickets were sold out for the entire New Year’s Eve weekend up until the 10:20pm showing on Sunday night. I broke down and had one of my friends drive us up to New Rochelle, NY where they now have an IMAX 3D theater in a small section called New Roc City. (more…)
