Bloomberg Talks Budget Today

Today, Mayor Bloomberg plans to introduce New York City’s budget plan for the next fiscal year. Previously, the Mayor was considering slashing police officers and teachers to close the budget gap. Times Square Suspect Charged

A Pakistani-born man believed to be responsible for the attempted car bomb attack in Times Square was seized from a jet yesterday seconds before it took off from New York for the Middle East, despite having been placed on a “no-fly” list hours before his arrest. The DoHS (Department of Homeland Security) secretary Janet Napolitano referred to him as an amateur. There was no other information to suggest that there are any other terrorism targets linked to the incident and the evidence so far suggested that this was a “one-off attempt”, Ms Napolitano told Fox News. Honda Introduces New U3-X

On Tuesday in here in New York, Honda introduced to us the prototype of it’s new “personal mobility” device. The Honda U3-X is a compact one-wheeled device which features a folding seat and retractable footrests. Today is the last day you can catch a glimpse of the device, here at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. A second demonstration will be held April 13-15, at the 2010 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) World Congress in Detroit, Michigan. (more…)

St. Vincent’s Hospital Closing

St. Vincent's Hospital
According to an announcement on Tuesday by it’s board, St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Centers has decided to close it’s Greenwich Village location. The current patients doing elective surgeries will have to move to another hospital by next week. The decision to close was due to a huge $700 million debt that organization just could not absorb. NYC Gangs Go Wild Last Night

Early this morning, at least 33 people were arrested due to possible gang members running amok in the city. So many rowdy mobs invaded the city last night, that there were three separate shooting incidents in midtown Manhattan. Four people were taken to the hospital for gunshot wounds, luckily no one was critical nor were there any casualties. (more…)

NYPD Crackdown Warning

The NYPD has issued a warning to all people who talk on their cell phones, without a hands-free device, while they drive. According to a press release issued by the city, police will begin the 24-hour initiative on Thursday, March 25th at midnight. If you’re driving within New York City’s five boroughs this week, I would suggest you make sure you remember your bluetooth headset before you leave the house. (more…)

Although everyone would be in high spirits, traffic will be a nightmare with closed streets for the parade, drunk driver checkpoints, and tipsy pedestrians. Today, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly announced the appointment of James P. Hall, as the department’s new Chief of Patrol. Chief Hall is set to replace recently retired Chief Robert J. Giannelli. In September 2005, he led a deployment of more than 300 members of the Department to Louisiana to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. (more…)
